PFHxA restriction under REACH Annex XVII (Entry 79) – introduced by Regulation (EU) 2024/2462, applies to mixtures for the general public from 10 October 2026, with limits of 25 ppb for the sum of PFHxA and its salts and 1,000 ppb for PFHxA-related substances. CMR substances (EU) 2025/1731 – 16 additional CMR Category 1B substances were added to the REACH restricted list effective 1 September 2025, with threshold limits of 0.1% for carcinogens and mutagens and 0.3% for reproductive toxicants in mixtures.
In parallel, VOC limits enforced by the U.S. EPA and EU solvent regulations continue to push formulators away from solvent-based systems toward water-based, low-VOC and bio-based wax systems.
